The Fountain of Youth in St Augustine

The Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine, Florida, is at the heart of the oldest city in America. Ponce de Leon landed here in 1513 and claimed it for Spain. He was chasing the one of the oldest myths in the world, the fabled Fountain of Youth. Certainly, he never found it although it was believed that a freshwater spring that was there had the mystical powers he sought. He left the area to the local people, and it was much later that Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles arrived and turned the area into a bustling city, current day St. Augustine.

Everyone should make at least one trip to this city, with it's beautiful architecture and vibrant local culture. You won't want to leave. And of course, you should spend a day at the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park. Drink the water.... who knows?
